What is DTS?

DTS, or Discipleship Training School, is a school through
Youth With A Mission Norway. YWAM Norway is a part of Youth With A Mission, an interdenominational and international missions organization. DTS is a six months school that can change your life forever! Six months where you will get tools to get to know God better and make Him known in Norway and other countries.
All of the DTS's in Norway has the same outline and mostly the same content. They start with a lecture phase which lasts at least twelve weeks. During these weeks we have different teachers from all over the world teach on new topics every week. After twelve weeks with teaching we go out on a missions trip, also called outreach, to other countries. This trip lasts from eight to ten weeks.
Seven Locations
Youth With A Mission Norway offers DTS at seven different locations around Norway. Here you will meet people from all over the world. By living at a YWAM center you will have the unique experience of living with people from different cultures.

How does it work?

Through teaching and travelling to exciting places, together with new friends from around the world, you will dive deeper into what it means to be a disciple of Jesus. Our greatest desire is that you will experience the love of God in such a way that you will never be the same again, and that you will discover more of His purpose for your life.
DTS consists of lectures and community living for approx. three months and two-three months of outreach (missions trip) to one or more countries.

LECTURE PHASE
The lecture phase lasts for about 12 weeks. Together we get to know God and learn to follow Him.
We have teachers from all over the world who really practice what they teach. The teaching is, for the most part, very practically focused and with many exciting stories from the teachers' lives. Each week a new topic is taught.
We put a high value on fellowship. As a student, you will find that much of the learning takes place outside the classroom; through meeting others and in the processes you are going through. You will have the opportunity to learn by doing, and the world is our classroom.
It's a short distance between teaching and living it out in the real world. Along with you, there will be other students, school staff and leaders - all working towards the same goal: To know God and make Him known. The textbook is first and foremost the Bible, and out from it we learn about various topics.
During DTS, you will also have many opportunities to get to know God more through the Bible, prayer and worship. There will be time set aside to be alone with God, for journaling, intercession, small groups and corporate worship.
OUTREACH
Outreach is a unique opportunity to experience new cultures and gives you a taste of what it means to be a missionary!
On outreach, the goal is twofold; We want to tell people about Jesus, and also show His love to others through practical actions! It consists of everything from evangelism, open air-meetings and teaching, to work with children and young people, health- and aid work.
God loves the nations, and so do we! Jesus gave this command to his disciples: "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation!" This is something we want to take part in!
